Ethical awareness science and engineering Geoff Hunt

Page history last edited by Norman Jackson 14 years, 1 month ago

Geoff undertook a feasibility study on providing an undergraduate unit on ‘Ethical Awareness’ for Engineering and Science undergraduate students. He interviewed professional training year tutors, other academics in engineering, and representatives of engineering professional institutions and the Engineering Council to determine the need for the enhancement of professional education for engineering students and how to meet any identified need. In his end of project report Geoff determined that there is a need, that engineering teachers would like to explore ethics and how to provide it, and that the professional institutions are very supportive of educational initiatives in such enhancement and are considering ethics as an accreditation requirement. Geoff completed his project in July 2007. He left the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences but continues to be associated with the University through his chaplaincy work.
